The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) president, Atiku Abubakar Isah, has accused Seyi, the son of President Bola Tinubu, and Ladoja Olusola, the leader of a rival faction, of being behind his kidnapping by armed thugs in Abuja on Tuesday.
In a statement released on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Isah reportedly claimed to have been beaten and to have had dehumanizing treatment.
Additionally, Isah stated that he was compelled to record an involuntary statement in the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) studio, emphasizing that Seyi labeled him an enemy following his resounding victory as NANS president at the association’s 125th convention.
According to the NANS president, he had repeatedly petitioned Kayode Egbetoken, the Inspector-General of Police, and other security authorities on the threats against his life, but nothing had been done.
Isah went on to say that he will continue to guide NANS in the best interests of Nigerian students, free from intimidation or fear.
“I was kidnapped in Abuja by thugs with guns on Seyi Tinubu and Ladoja Olusola’s orders,” the statement said. My clothing was ripped to pieces, I was stripped naked, and I endured the most heinous and dehumanizing torture possible.
Then, in collusion with the NTA Managing Director, I was hastily packed and taken to the police, where I was made to provide an involuntary statement.

Since I was overwhelmingly elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the 125th convention of the association, Seyi Tinubu has sided with Ladoja and, for reasons only he knows, declared me an enemy. Since then, threats against my life have been made on a regular basis.
“On this subject, I have sent multiple petitions to the Inspector General of Police and other pertinent security organizations.
I want to express my appreciation to the hundreds of Nigerian students who supported us and demanded our unconditional and quick release throughout the nation. Additionally, I would want to thank the media and Nigerians who support peace for lending their voices to the condemnation of my unlawful kidnapping.
“No amount of threats or intimidation will force us to submit to the whims and whims of our adversaries. I will continue to enjoy the freedom granted to me to lead this association at this point in our history.
“We are even more determined and dedicated to acting fearlessly and in the best interests of the vast majority of Nigerian students.”
