Edison Ehie, a former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has disclosed that he was asked for ₦5 billion to help remove Siminalayi Fubara, the state governor.
According to Ehie, who is currently Governor Fubara’s Chief of Staff, he still has the offer’s proof on his phone.
In an interview with Sunday Politics on Channels Television, he said that he had printed the proof and distributed it in case the people who contacted him with the bribe wanted to use it against him later.

He added, “I can also open my phone to show you that they approached me with a N5 billion bribe at the beginning of October 2023.” I have it on my phone.

The offer to assist in Fubara’s impeachment was given to him when he was still the Majority Leader of the House, according to Ehie, who served as the Rivers Assembly’s factional speaker until January 2024.
Ehie also strongly refuted allegations that he was involved in the October 29, 2023, fire at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, according to an earlier report.
George Nwaeke, the former head of service for Rivers State, made the accusations, accusing Ehie and Fubara of orchestrating the fire that destroyed the state’s Assembly Complex.
Ehie denied the allegations, claiming he had nothing to do with the occurrence.
