Ahead of the general elections in 2027, Bello, a member of the House of Representatives and the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has played down the prospect of leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bello reportedly announced this after being pushed by a social media user to switch from the APC to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Bello responded that his political choices are not influenced by internet pressure, stating that his position is based on his electoral victory in Kaduna North.

Bello emphasized that his primary allegiance is to the 51,052 constituents who elected him, not to voices on social media, while reminding detractors of the mandate they entrusted to him.

He said, “Bello El-Rufai wins Kaduna North Rep seat with 51,052 to defeat the PDP candidate, Samaila, who polled 34,808 votes,” in reference to his victory. El-Rufai’s son becomes the first candidate to win every one of Kaduna North’s twelve wards, setting a new record.

Bello claims that his father’s order served as another basis for the decision to fire APC.

“I’ll resign the seat tonight if Mallam asks me to leave the APC,” he said. I’m capable of being impartial. I am loved by my folks.

He went on to challenge the social media user, saying: “If you can persuade the 51,052 people who have me this mandate, I’ll send you 10 million tonight.” Do you have a confirmation app?

Bello emphasized his devotion to the Kaduna State government, which is led by Governor Uba Sani, whom he referred to as his “boss,” while also reiterating his profound regard for his father and ruling out any act of treachery.

He disclosed that he went straight to an APC caucus meeting in Kaduna with the Speaker and the governor after recently attending a public event with his father. He characterized this action as both deliberate and significant.

“I will never publicly criticize the governor, and I will not plot his downfall,” he declared. We call it honor.

Bello also highlighted the chances he has had within the APC, saying that the party has given him the chance to work with high-ranking government officials, such as Governor Olayemi Cardoso of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
