Concerns regarding former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello running for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027 have been downplayed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
She reportedly stated that she is not bothered by the move and that she would be willing to run again if he entered the race.
“We don’t see it as a threat,” she stated through Mike Idoko, her Special Advisor on Media. We’re actually glad he wants to compete. We are awaiting their arrival.
After a protracted legal battle, Akpoti-Uduaghan was elected to represent Kogi Central in the Senate in 2023.
She was the first female senator for the district and was a lawyer and former candidate for governor.
It was understood that Bello had lately shown interest while visiting the Ohinoyi palace in Ebiraland, where he met with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community leaders.
Last week, he uploaded a video of the visit to his verified Facebook profile.
Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, attended the event alongside other influential political figures.
Bello was reportedly encouraged to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027 by party leaders and attendees.
