The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Imo State on Friday passed a vote of confidence in the new National Secretary of the Party, Ude Okoye, following his landslide victory at the Appeal Court.
The stakeholders, who spoke after the judgment that ousted Senator Samuel Anyanwu, reaffirmed their support for the leader of the PDP Imo State chapter, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere.

They also eulogized the Justices of the Appeal Court for having the courage to remove the embattled PDP National Secretary, thereby declaring Okoye as the new national scribe of the main opposition party. They said that PDP is now on the right path to rescue the party, especially once Anyanwu’s co-conspirators, particularly Umar Damagun, are booted out.
They expressed optimism that the new PDP National Secretary would complete the remaining tenure of Anyanwu, which became vacant when he resigned and contested the Imo State governorship election.
According to the stakeholders, led by the chairman of the Forum of Chairmen, Barrister Uche Alisigwe, the new PDP scribe replaced Senator Anyanwu following his nomination by the South-East Zonal Executive Committee of the PDP in October 2023.
“We, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Imo State, have passed a vote of confidence in the new National Secretary of the party, Ude Okoye, who replaced Samuel Anyanwu after he resigned and contested the 2023 Imo State governorship election.”

While reacting to the Appeal Court judgment, the Imo State Leader of PDP, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, celebrated the ruling, which ousted Anyanwu as PDP National Secretary and declared Okoye as the new national secretary of the party.
Hon. Ugochinyere, who represents the Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, described the judgment as “a triumph of the rule of law, a victory for democracy, and an end to the desperate attempts by one selfish and desperate politician to weaken PDP and desecrate Nigerian democratic principles.”
“As someone totally committed to the rule of law and an ardent advocate for the judiciary as the last bastion for the common man, I wholeheartedly welcome the judgment of the Appeal Court, which ousted the former PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and reaffirmed the new chief scribe of our party, Okoye.”

“The ruling gladdens my heart because it is a triumph of the rule of law, a victory for democracy, and an end to the desperate attempts by an individual to hold the entire party to ransom just to satisfy his selfish and greedy antics.”
“If not for selfishness or wickedness, how could someone willingly leave his position as National Secretary of the party to contest a governorship election, and after an unsuccessful attempt, come back to lay claim to the seat he had abandoned, through the back door, when another person was already nominated to fill the vacancy?”
“It is a welcome development because one of the APC moles in the PDP has been dislodged, and we are better for it as we prepare to work towards reclaiming power from the broom party, which is sweeping away the destinies and happiness of Nigerians.”
