Osita Chidoka, a former minister of aviation, has stated that Nigeria’s fight against terrorism does not require additional police or military personnel.
Chidoka reportedly stated this in an interview with Arise Television, highlighting the necessity of Special and Forest Forces for Nigeria.
Chidoka emphasized that it is unfortunate that the nation lacks Special Forces and that President Bola Tinubu’s emergency declaration to recruit additional troops and police officers is a hasty response.
“We have been at this since 2008 and should have a special force by now,” he declared. A forest force is what we need, not more soldiers and cops.
“You do realize that President Bola Tinubu said boots on the ground? Declaring an emergency: 50,000 military, 20,000 additional police officers, etc. NYSC camps will be utilized in the recruitment of new soldiers.
However, that seems like a snap decision to me. More police and military are not necessary, in my opinion, to combat terrorism in Nigeria. Our failure to create special forces to combat terrorism is regrettable.
