The former presidential campaign spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP), Kenneth Okonkwo, has made severe claims against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the electoral body of manipulating the outcomes of the 2023 general elections.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Okonkwo stated that the results awarded to LP’s Peter Obi were not representative of the actual votes cast but were instead “written” and “allocated” by INEC.
He emphasized that there was intentional manipulation of the election results, especially in the states of Lagos and Rivers.
He claims that in a state like Lagos State, where the LP candidate received over a million votes, INEC lowered his victory, while in Rivers, the results were changed and rewritten to favor the All Progressives Congress.

Okonkwo responded, “No, the court is not telling you they wrote, or they did not write,” after being reminded that the Supreme Court’s decision had concluded the case and declared Tinubu and the APC the winners of the presidential election. “You did not produce the evidence to show substantial evidence that they wrote,” the court is telling you. Where are you going to bring the proof?
The former LP guy responded, “Yes, that is what it ought to be,” when asked why his party was unable to deploy polling unit agents across the country’s polling units. Furthermore, the Electoral Act always employs the word “may” since it acknowledges that not all parties will have the funds to place agents in every voting station.
“If you are working under INEC, an INEC that is honest and won’t tamper with the results, why would you need an agent? In order to conduct elections in Nigeria, INEC raised 400 billion naira.
