Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has cautioned against internal strife within the African Democratic Party (ADC).
The warning was reportedly issued in response to a 𝕏 user who questioned Atiku’s silence regarding the attack on former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi by his followers.
“Atiku’s people want to insult Peter Obi without Atiku receiving the heat back,” the message stated. Perhaps they believe Peter Obi is not deserving of respect but Atiku is.
The former vice president responded by saying in a post on his 𝕏 handle that individuals who disparage him or Peter Obi do not have the best interests of the nation, the leaders, or the coalition under the ADC at heart.
Atiku warned supporters against internal attacks, emphasizing that they jeopardize Nigeria’s democratic progress and opposition unity.
He claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of profiting from internal strife within the opposition, only benefits from internal differences.
He emphasized that opposition leaders and supporters must stand together.
“Anyone who disparages Obi or Atiku does not mean well for the leaders, the Coalition ADC, and for Nigeria and Nigerians,” he added. The APC urban bandits who wish to uphold the demonic status quo are the only people who stand to gain from such a civil war. Together, we are better!
