Liverpool are ready to halt their pursuit of Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak after their £110 million proposal was rejected.
The Premier League winners attempted to bring Alexander Isak to Anfield this summer, but the Magpies are reportedly demanding a £150 million transfer fee.
While initial conversations between the teams began in July, Newcastle have maintained that Isak is not for sale. Despite this, Liverpool made a formal bid of £110 million on August 1, which was swiftly rejected.
According to BBC Sports, Liverpool may potentially pull out of the agreement, with insiders claiming the club sees little possibility of successfully arranging a trade in the current conditions.
It was claimed that Isak, 25, was left out of Newcastle’s pre-season squad for their Asian trip, with the club citing a “minor thigh injury.”
Despite Newcastle’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League this season, sources in England suggest that the player is willing to ponder a move away.

He has apparently been exercising alone at his previous club Real Sociedad, where he is still a fan favorite after a great tenure in La Liga, before joining Newcastle in 2022 for £60 million.
Liverpool, led by Arne Slot, has previously considered a bid of up to £130 million for Isak. Despite signing French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million, the Reds remained interested in the Swedish forward.
Slot’s team has already spent substantially this window, signing Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Armin Pecsi.
Total spending is estimated to have reached £265 million, with the exits of key players such as Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher generating approximately £115 million in income.
Isak’s stock has risen substantially following a brilliant 2024/2025 season in which he finished as Newcastle’s leading scorer with 27 goals in 42 games.
Despite being a top target, Liverpool appears to be ready to abandon efforts to sign Alexander Isak unless Newcastle softens their stance.
