According to Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, a former director of voter and publicity education at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there is proof that the Senate is purposefully postponing the Electoral Act’s ratification.
Osaze-Uzzi reportedly made this accusation on Tuesday while responding to inquiries during an interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” show.
He believes that the Senate should not postpone passing the Electoral Act because the 2027 elections are close.
Osaze-Uzzi further stated that Nigeria would be forced to return to the Electoral Act of 2022, which he claims has shortcomings, as a result of the delay.
“Evidence shows the Senate is purposefully delaying the passage of the Electoral Act,” he declared. It appears to be a calculated effort based on the circumstantial evidence, in my opinion.
“When you observe all of these events, how they develop, why did they occur? That will be on the legislative agenda, and it was the top priority for the same reason that was mentioned yesterday.
However, those of us who keep an eye on these issues find it troubling that there are two or three significant issues. The agricultural aspect is present, I believe. It was still discussing the budget as we were thinking about it.
