The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has accused the President Bola Tinubu’s administration of being desperate for positive headlines.
Abdullahi’s remark was a response to the Japanese government’s clarification that it was not creating a special visa category for Nigerians.
DAILY POST reported that the Director of Information at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, had stated in a statement that Japanese authorities would introduce “a special visa category for highly skilled, innovative, and talented young Nigerians who want to move to Kisarazu to live and work”.
However, Japan has denied creating a special visa category for Nigerians.
In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Abdullahi said the denial by Japanese authorities was an indictment of the Nigerian government.
According to him, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has become so desperate for positive headlines that they would not mind spreading fake news.
He said: “This denial by the Japanese authorities shows that the Tinubu/APC government have become so desperate for positive headlines that they would not mind spreading #FakeNews.
“The truth is, with this government, we don’t know what to believe anymore. This embarrassment just has to stop.”
