Officials are still looking into whether the explosion was caused by human activity, according to Vanguard, especially in view of recent threats against oil facilities from militant groups and the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political unrest.
The crucial export pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Terminal is said to have been the site of the explosion on Monday night.
