The Kaduna state police command has launched an investigation into the violent outburst that erupted at a political rally allegedly organised by the former governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Reports indicate that on Saturday, some youths armed with machetes, clubs and stones disrupted the inauguration of the ADC Transition Committee in Kaduna. They are said to have injured several people and damaged vehicles at the venue.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident, saying that the rally was organised without informing the police and other security agencies.
According to him, initial investigations indicated that the violence stemmed from a clash between supporters of different politicians.
ADC party leadership in the state has denied any knowledge of the political rally and expressed their support for maintaining law and order.
