Aloy Ejimakor, the Iead counsel to detained leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has addressed rumours that Kanu has been released from the custody of the Directorate of State Service (DSS).
Ejimakor who was reacting to the rumours that made rounds on Wednesday, described them as fake and concocted by enemies of the Biafran agitator who are bent on misleading his supporters and Ndigbo.
In a post on his X handle on Wednesday night, Ejimakor said there won’t be any need for confirmation when Kanu is released.
“Fake News Alert: The general public is hereby advised to disregard the viral rumor that MAZI NNAMDI KANU has been released,” he wrote.
“It’s pure #FakeNews. The day #MNK (the #BigElephant & leader of millions) is freed, the earth itself will announce it and it won’t require any confirmation.”
Kanu was arrested in Kenya in 2021 and subjected to extraordinary rendition to Nigeria where he was charged with terrorism, treason, involvement with a banned separatist movement, inciting public violence through radio broadcasts, and defamation of Nigerian authorities through broadcasts.
Though he has been granted bail by different courts, the federal government has refused to release him from the detention facilities of the DSS.
