Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has denounced cyberattacks against her for praising Nyesom Wike’s 2025 budget.
In front of the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday, FCT Minister Wike reportedly defended a proposed budget of ₦1.78 trillion for the capital city.
The fact that capital expenditures account for 70% of the budget was praised by Senator Kingibe, a member of the Labour Party.
Her fans on the internet had mixed feelings about her support for the budget, arguing that the ₦1.78 trillion budget was excessive.
The MP from the Labour Party stressed the importance of her internet followers putting aside their political disagreements and concentrating on the greater good.
She emphasised that the proposed budget aimed to address important issues impacting citizens of the Federal Capital Territory, such as housing, education, health, and infrastructure.
It stated: “I was seen endorsing the budget that the Honourable Minister of the FCT delivered in a widely shared viral video. Although this has generated discussion in some places, I believe it is important to make my stance clear.
As everyone is aware, I am a senator who always speaks the truth. The idea of acting morally rather than politically or socially is what has always directed me.

“On occasion, we need to set aside our political disagreements and concentrate on a single objective: the advancement and welfare of our people. I’m in favor of the FCT budget because I think it will help my constituents with some of their long-standing problems. If properly carried out, a budget of less than 30% for personnel and overheads and more than 70% for capital projects is an excellent one.
“Some things are urgent and cannot wait. Our youth require opportunities and genuine empowerment; our healthcare and education systems require significant attention; and our brothers and sisters in IDP camps require improved living conditions and support. These are not talking points for politics. Many of us have to deal with these facts on a daily basis.
“I hope that this budget will be a positive move. It can help our people in the FCT and make their lives better if it is done right. I’m still dedicated to the people, and I’ll keep calling for openness and responsibility at every turn.
“Remember that personal interests are not the focus of governance. It concerns service.
