The defection of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, according to Factional National Chairman Julius Abure, has loosened the shackle of bondage holding the party down.
In a statement to party members on New Year’s Eve, Abure made this claim.
He claimed that the party, which has already formed a coalition with Nigerians, is still the best option for building a thriving country.
He claims that the past year, 2025, was a remarkable year with conflicting emotions.
According to Abure, the Labour Party under his leadership overcame almost all of the party leaders’ diversions that had jeopardized the party’s peaceful survival.
“I’m happy to greet everyone to the new year, fellow Nigerians and especially Labour Party members worldwide. Indeed, 2025 was an amazing year full of conflicting emotions, and we thank God for it.
“The incident in Enugu on December 31, 2025, finally breaks the bonds of bondage that have held the party down for over a year,” he declared.
