Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has stressed that the N4.237 trillion 2026 budget plan must precisely match the demands of the populace and address urgent social and economic issues.
Obasa spoke on Tuesday at the Lagos Assembly complex during Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s official presentation of the 2026 Appropriations Bill.
The governor reportedly presented the “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” an N4.237 trillion proposal, to parliamentarians for consideration and approval.
The speaker emphasized that the budget ought to support economic
resilience, enhance welfare, bolster security, and promote the development of sustainable infrastructure in every Lagos community.
He stated that “hard work, creativity, and laws that encourage innovation and excellence among our people” are responsible for the state’s current standing.
Obasa continued by reflecting on the accomplishments of the Assembly under his direction, noting that in the last ten years, the legislature has passed over 1,500 resolutions and more than 100 legislation with the goal of strengthening governance and improving the lives of its citizens.
Obasa praised Governor Sanwo-Olu and his group for putting out a thorough budget proposal that reflects Lagos’ dedication to inclusive development and growth.
