Two people were seriously hurt and at least six people were confirmed killed in a car accident that happened at
Lagos-Ibadan motorway, NASFAT intersection.
At approximately 2:36 p.m. on Thursday, a Volvo truck and a Mazda commercial bus collided.
According to reports, the eighteen-seater bus was driving from Lagos when it collided with an Ibadan truck that was doing a U-turn close to the NASFAT area.
Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun Sector Command Public Relations Officer, verified the event to reporters in Abeokuta and stated that eight people were engaged.
According to the information, FRSC officers from Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, an ambulance team from Ojota Unit Command, MTD RCCG Police Division, and TRACE Mowe division quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the victims. Odunsi-Oyewole attributed the crash to over-speeding.
The PRO claims that before they arrived on the location, good samaritans sent some injured victims to an unidentified hospital and others to Famobis Hospital in Lotto for medical care.
He stated, “Today, January 1, 2026, at around 14:36 hours, there was an automobile accident. The FRS rescue team was notified at approximately 14:40 hours, and they arrived to the scene at approximately 14:50 hours.

Six (6) of the eight individuals involved died and two (2) were injured.
Overspeeding was the cause of the collision.
“We were informed that prior to the team’s arrival, a good Samaritan transported a few injured patients to an unidentified hospital. For medical care, a few casualties were transported to Famobis Hospital in Lotto.
“While the mogue received the dead bodies.”
Corps Commander Akinwumi Fasakin, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the tragedy.

According to the FRSC, Joshua’s driver was speeding and improperly overtook from the right side, colliding with the stationary car.
