The new Alaafin of Oyo, Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has been approved by Mr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State.
Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, stated in a statement that Prince Owoade had been proposed by the Oyomesi and accepted by Governor Makinde following extensive consultations and divinations.
The commissioner claims that Hon. Ademola Ojo, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has released a statement to this effect, stating that the announcement has resolved all legal and sociopolitical disputes that have arisen since Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III passed away on April 22, 2022.

Ojo urged all Oyo State residents to support the new Alaafin of Oyo and join the government in commemorating this historic occasion.
The commissioner hoped that the ancient Oyo Kingdom would have peace, prosperity, and unity under his rule.
