After Mr. Ukaegbu Ogii, an indigenous man, was killed by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama, the Ndiolumbe autonomous community in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State, went into mourning.
The defendant, Okwudili Mbama, also known as Nkume, stabbed the late Ukaegbu Ogii in the neck after accusing him of having extramarital affairs with his wife, Mercy Mbama.
According to a local source, the suspect, who was from Umuota village in Ndiolumbe, quickly escaped to an unidentified location in order to evade capture.
The community source also stated that despite community assistance, the suspect had caused a head injury to the late Ukaegbu Ogii a few weeks prior due to the same problem.
The community became tense after learning about Ukaegbu Ogii’s passing.
The event was confirmed by Abia State Police Command, which stated that the suspect’s wife, Mrs. Okwudili Mbama, reported it to the Omoba Police Divisional headquarters on April 5.
According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Police Command, detectives from the Command went to the scene of the event and transported the victim to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death.
“His body has been placed in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, and attempts are underway to apprehend the at-large culprit.
DSP Chinaka stated, “The investigation is ongoing.”
