The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, on Friday, charged the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, to fish out the killers of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa.
The district head was kidnapped alongside his son at the Kwanar Maharba area in Sokoto on July 26 and killed by his abductors more than three weeks later.
A video of Bawa who was tied up by his abductors and pleading with the state government to pay the ransom demanded by the bandits was made public during the week.
The minister made the call in a statement issued in Abuja by the ministry’s director of information and public relations, Henshaw Ogubike.
Matawalle described the killing of the district head as heinous and unacceptable.

He said: “The killing of Bawa is a senseless and brutal act that will not be tolerated. We will do everything we can to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
“Consequent to this, the Chief of Defence should immediately launch a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“Security is one of the top agenda of President Bola Tinubu and he has been giving full support to the military.”
He assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces would fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime and bring them to justice.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians,” he added.
