The APC Solidarity Vanguard, a support organization for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and prevent Defense Minister Alhaji Muhammad Badaru from allegedly undermining the party.

According to the group, Badaru, a former Jigawa State governor, has been interacting with important opposition figures in the north.

The group claims that the APC is seriously threatened by this development.

In a statement released Monday morning, Alhaji Salisu Yakubu, the chairman of the APC Solidarity Vanguard in Jigawa, claimed that Badaru’s activities were harmful to the party’s objectives on a state and national level.

We learned a few days ago from the press that Badaru is holding frequent meetings with opposition figures from Jigawa State and has extended his influence to neighboring states in the North East and North West.

“A man who leads a ministry as delicate as defense ought to be a good man. We don’t think Badaru can be trusted because of his frequent interactions with opposition members.

“We recognize that governance follows elections or politics, but we must keep in mind that the person given such a delicate role is not your typical Nigerian who ought to be seen with everyone and everywhere.

“Nigeria’s opponents are still present and will not stop until Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda fails.

“This administration’s primary focus is security, and the man in charge of the sector is deeply involved in anti-party activities, which could cost the president and the APC the 2027 elections.”

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan lost his 2015 reelection after some prominent northerners betrayed him with anti-party activities, according to the aforementioned statement we read from the APC Support Group for the 2023 General Elections in Jigawa State. While working covertly for Buhari, they were assigned delicate roles under Jonathan.

We are pleading with our beloved President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promptly call Badaru to order because we do not want what occurred to President Jonathan in 2015 to happen again.

“No amount of lobbying can make us in Jigawa State change our minds; we are completely in favor of Asiwaju and the APC. Even after the same elements met with a delegation from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and urged us to support the PDP presidential candidate, we continued to support Asiwaju in 2023. However, we refused to back down,” the statement said in part.
