The Force Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF, Major General Godwin Mutkut, and the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, have carried out a joint operational visit to Sector 3 in Baga, Borno State.
The visit, held on Wednesday, focused on assessing counter-terrorism operations in the Lake Chad waterways and evaluating the deployment of platforms and equipment in the area.
During the exercise, the commanders received briefings from the Commander of 403 Amphibious Brigade, Brigadier General Emmanuel Agada, and the Commander of Naval Base Lake Chad, Commodore Peter Yilme, on strategies being used to secure the waterways and safeguard economic activities.
General Mutkut stressed the importance of coordination, vigilance, and effective monitoring of troops’ performance, noting that stability in the Lake Chad Basin was crucial to all member nations.
On his part, General Abubakar urged troops to remain alert and professional, while ensuring security for farming and fishing activities vital to the livelihoods of local communities. He also emphasized troops’ welfare, communication, and proper use of resources.
The visit was attended by senior officers of the MNJTF, Theatre Command, and Sector 3 OPHK.
