Organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protests on Tuesday presented 17 demands to the Federal Government ahead of the planned rallies slated for December 1.

The Publisher of the Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, read out the demands to journalists in Abuja.

They demanded the scrapping of the 1999 constitution, the restructuring of the country, payment of N250,000 minimum wage to workers, the immediate and unconditional release of detained protesters, the unfreezing of their assets, compensation for the distress and hardships endured during protests and prosecution of government officials accused of suppressing protests and rights violation, among others.

Sowore said: “Pay Nigerian workers a minimum wage of no less than N250,000 monthly.

“Invest heavily in education and provide Nigerian students with grants, not loans. Aggressively pursue free and compulsory education for children across Nigeria.

“Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the South-East. All #ENDSARS and political detainees must also be released and compensated, among other demands.”

Amnesty International had a few days ago claimed that over 1,000 persons who took part in the August 1-10 nationwide protests are still in detention centres across the country.

The watchdog alleged that the Nigerian government has crackdown on peaceful protesters by arraigning many of them in courts across the country.
