A thorough inquiry is underway to determine the accuracy of reports of civilian casualties during recent airstrikes in Zamfara, according to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

AVM Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, announced this in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.
Akinboyewa claimed that in recent bombings at Tungar Kara in the state’s Zurmi Local Government Area, the NAF delivered a crushing blow to bandits terrorizing nearby villages.
While several bandits were successfully killed and some abduction victims were rescued, the NAF was extremely concerned about allegations that civilians had been killed during the operation.

In order to determine the accuracy of the reports, a thorough investigation is underway. The results will be appropriately shared to reassure and educate the public.
“You can be confident that the safety and well-being of every Nigerian are our top priorities, even as we continue our mission in the North West to fight banditry and bring peace back.
In order to prevent, minimize, and mitigate any injury to civilians and civilian infrastructure during our operations, he stated, “we will thus work closely with all relevant authorities to unravel the facts and take appropriate steps.”
