The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control’s (NAFDAC) director-general, Mojisola Adeyeye, claims she is not scared of death threats.
According to The Nation, Adeyeye made the remarks over the weekend when briefing media in Abuja.
Following the agency’s actions to dismantle significant shady drug trafficking networks in Kano, Idumota, Yaba, and Onitsha, she added, there were death threats.
The director-general stated that she returned to Nigeria to serve her people after more than 30 years in the United States.
Threats won’t deter the agency’s steadfast dedication to public health protection, she said.
“I spent thirty-seven years in the US. I returned home to serve. Comfortably, I could have been there. “I came here as a missionary, and I tell people that,” she added.

“I don’t have a reason to return home if missionaries could leave their established comfort zones and join us in Nigeria.
Returning home requires sacrifice and is not an easy task. I don’t see my children, and I have grandchildren. Therefore, I do not include fear in my regular vocabulary.
Although my purpose for returning is to serve, I nevertheless exercise common sense. I make extensive use of common sense, but it’s not just about me; it’s also about my employees.
“Six months ago, I wasn’t the one who was beaten and bleeding in Onitsha because the NAFDAC employees were conducting an inspection.”
There’s one of our employees. I simply glanced at her arm one day and inquired, “What happened?” She claimed that during an inspection, she nearly died.
