481 rounds of live ammunition were seized by the Nigeria Police Force’s Nasarawa State command, which also detained a 21-year-old woman suspected of trafficking in weapons.
A carefully thought-out operation that was conducted throughout multiple key local government regions led to this arrest, according to a statement released on Thursday by SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).
Nansel stated that the police apprehended Fatima Salisu, a resident of Funtua in Katsina State, in the Azuba area of Lafia after acting on credible intelligence.

In order to send the ammo to criminal groups in Katsina, she was allegedly in the process of moving it through the LGAs of Keana and Doma.

Nansel added that the arrest was precisely carried out by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which was sent in by Commissioner of Police CP Shetima J. Mohammed.
The suspect’s belongings included 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition.

The Wereng Camp settlement in Plateau State’s Riyom local government area was assaulted by gunmen on Wednesday night, killing at least nine people and leaving an unknown number of others injured.

They also set fire to a number of homes in the neighborhood, forcing inhabitants to evacuate a place that has been the target of ongoing attacks for more than 10 years.

Notably, there have been a number of recent attacks in the local government areas of Bokkos, Wase, and Barkin-Ladi by gunmen allegedly connected to the Fulani militia, resulting in casualties and the destruction of assets worth millions of naira.

An insider from the Wereng Camp community told Vanguard that the attackers began their attack at exactly 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, when the majority of the people had already gone to bed, therefore besieging the location.

To signal their arrival, they fired rifles into the air, igniting fear and scattering locals in all directions.

Reports state that the several assailants shot victims and burned their homes on fire as they went from house to house.

The source described how the assailants’ superior weaponry eventually overpowered the residents’ attempts to defend their community.
