Not in use Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has formally petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee to have Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen removed from the Nigerian Bar.
As per the petition, which is based on claims of professional misconduct, Senator Imasuen was previously disbarred from the New York Bar for significant offenses including as fraud, misuse of client funds, and non-cooperation with disciplinary authorities.
The petition states that on May 10, 2010, the Appellate Division, Second Department of the New York Supreme Court permanently disbarred Senator Imasuen.
Daphne Slyfield, a customer who accused Imasuen of embezzling legal fees, filed an official complaint, which prompted this action. His U.S. law license was revoked after the court found him guilty of several violations of professional conduct.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has claimed that Senator Imasuen continued to practice law in Nigeria after being disbarred in the United States, posing as a lawyer and entering politics.
After serving as the senator for the Edo South Senatorial District, Imasuen was named chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, a position that requires the highest integrity.
Additionally, according to the petition, Senator Imasuen neglected to declare his disbarment when he submitted his FORM EC-9 – Particulars of Personal Information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prior to running for public office.
Highlighting the inconsistencies in Imasuen’s declarations and raising concerns about the appropriateness of someone with such a record to hold a powerful position in the Senate, Akpoti-Uduaghan has petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee to take the necessary steps.
