Residents in Kaduna State’s Afaka, Kauya, and Mando have received a notification from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) warning them to stay away from the open range during a planned shooting practice.
According to a statement issued Tuesday in Kaduna by the academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the exercise is set to take place between February 26 and March 1.
This event is part of the advanced application of the fire package for the 72 Regular Course Army Cadets, Maidawa explained.

It was understood that live gunfire will be a part of the drill, which is essential to the cadets’ development and training.
The importance of safety precautions was emphasized by Maidawa, who also mentioned that warning signs and barriers will be erected to demarcate the range areas.

“We strongly advise residents to heed these warnings and avoid the area throughout the exercise, especially farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers.

“The NDA has appealed for cooperation and participation from the community members and has guaranteed that the safety and well-being of all neighbors are a top concern.

Residents can contribute to their own safety and the efficient training of military personnel by avoiding the designated region, according to Maidawa.

“The warning was issued as a necessary precaution to ensure the success of the training exercise and to prevent any potential harm to civilians,” he said.
