Ndigbo Buru’otu Association Visit Ighalo Orphanage Home, Give Charity

The Ndigbo Buru’otu Association of Nigeria, with over 50 member representatives, on Thursday, November 27, 2025, paid Ighalo Orphanage Home a visit to show love to the children as part of the association’s lined-up events of corporate social responsibility to give back to the society. The event of visiting orphanages is part of the association’s goal done yearly, including catering for the widows and the less privileged in the society.

At this year’s event, the association presented a variety of food items, drinks and other household items, accompanied by cash gifts, to the Ighalo Orphanage Home. The coordinator of the home, Mr Samuel Ogbonna, who warmly received the guests, expressed gratitude to the association for their goodwill. He noted that the orphanage home is organising an outreach where free eye tests, free reading glasses and other free medications will be given to attendees on the 13th of December, 2025, as he enjoined all those present to support the outreach and also benefit from the exercise.

Ogbonna commended the effort of the association in ensuring that they touched lives. He recounted how he met the founder of the Ndigbo Buru’otu Association of Nigeria, Eze (Amb) Dr Chika Nwokedi, and said he admires Eze Chika’s tenacity and style of leadership, which includes his selfless service to humanity. Meanwhile, the children of the Ighalo Orphanage Home also appreciated the association’s goodwill by praying for the givers.

High Chief Dr Owoh Anthony, the Ikuku Oma of the Ndigbo Buru Otu Association, emphasised that the Ndigbo Buru Otu Association is dedicated to helping the less privileged, including regular visits to orphanages over the past seven years. He expressed joy in fulfilling a divine command to assist those in need and urged other resource holders to emulate their charitable actions. He highlighted the importance of using wealth to uplift the weak, particularly in terms of education, advocating for support to help children with school fees. He believes that educating society contributes to its overall development.

Lolo Joy Nkemjika Udegbe, secretary of the charity committee for this year’s outreach, emphasised the Ndigbo Buru’otu Association has a tradition of visiting orphanages annually. This year, they chose Ighalo Orphanage Home to connect with a nearby facility they had not previously visited. During the visit, they engaged with the children and received heartfelt prayers, which Udegbe noted as impactful for their lives and businesses. She expressed the importance of showing love and support to the orphaned children and encouraged individual efforts to visit and care for them, highlighting the emotional connection created when they are surrounded by caring adults.

Lolo Okeoma Nkiruka, Ugo Si Mba, a member of the Ndigbo Buru’otu Association, expressed her happiness after visiting an orphanage with the group led by Ambassador Dr Eze Chika Nwokedi. She observed members’ emotional responses during the prayer session led by the orphanage children, stressing the significant impact of their visit on the children’s well-being. Nkiru encouraged others with resources to emulate their example, highlighting the importance of leadership in fostering charitable activities. She credited their leader’s compassionate nature for motivating the group to support the less privileged consistently over the past decade.

Ogbuefi Chibuike Oguegbe (DSP Okogba), chairman of the Widows and Motherless Foundation of the Ndigbo Buru’otu Association, expressed his satisfaction with his leadership role, which began two years ago when he was appointed by Eze Chika Nwokedi, the founder of the association. He noted that he also led a visit to the orphanage home, namely ‘Charitas’, last year and emphasised the importance of giving to the less privileged, advising that individuals should recognise the value of human resources and engage in acts of mercy. Oguegbe referenced biblical teachings about helping those in need, stressing that divine judgement focuses on compassion rather than material wealth. He expressed joy in witnessing the children’s prayers, connecting it to a divine ideal of childlike faith.

Speaking with Eze Amb. Dr Chika Nwokedi, founder of the Ndigbo Buru’otu Association, he mentioned that the charity initiative towards orphans and the less privileged, including widows, has been ongoing for nearly a decade. He revealed this year’s choice of blessing the children from Ighalo Orphanage Home is associated with ensuring orphanage homes situated around the environs of the Ndigbo Buru’otu establishment benefit from the goodwill offered by the association.

Eze Chika Nwokedi noted that since the establishment of the association, the association has initiated several events for its growth and development, such as a yearly night vigil prayer event observed every third Friday of November, visiting diverse orphanages annually with gifts such as food items and cash, recognition of eminent persons through awards events, and catering for the widows and less privileged in the society.

However, the association plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary next month with a distribution of aid to members of the association who are widows and widowers. Future endeavours include hosting an end-of-year party exclusively for members following substantial investments in building the association’s Secretariat and community development, unlike every other anniversary where there is a planned awards event and many mouthwatering gifts.

Eze Nwokedi emphasises the importance of charitable acts, encouraging individuals and organisations to contribute to the less fortunate, as these actions align with divine principles of compassion and generosity.

The association has accomplished a number of things over the years, such as helping hospitalised patients who lacked funds for treatment or aftercare, saving a stranded mother of triplets who was unable to pay hospital bills after giving birth, assisting out-of-school children in returning to school, providing loans and grants to members with zero interest and no collateral, and more.
