In order to improve the speed, transparency, and resistance to manipulation of its drug integrity test and visa clearance procedures, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a new online portal.
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS) platform was formally introduced in Abuja.
Through the Agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd.) characterized the effort as “a paradigm shift in our fight against the scourge of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.”
“It is a moment where efficiency meets enforcement, and dedication meets state-of-the-art technology,” he added.
Due to laborious documentation and verification, applicants for NDLEA visa clearance certificates faced protracted delays for years. According to Marwa, the difficulties are resolved by the new method.
“We are delivering automation across all processes with secure interfaces for effective collaboration with partner agencies through the Online Visa Clearance Portal,” he stated.
Candidates can now register for an account, schedule appointments at any approved facility, and obtain their certificates electronically by visiting www.drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng. Visa approval will now be handled in three days, or a week in special circumstances, according to the NDLEA.
The head of the NDLEA emphasized that the new approach guarantees openness and gets rid of certificate forgery.
“Our commands, formations, and headquarters can establish supervisory dashboards and reliability with the E-Certification and Verification system,” he said.
Additionally, the portal incorporates background check procedures to protect Nigeria’s reputation abroad and stop narcotics syndicates from abusing legal travel routes.
The platform has been expanded to include organizations, workplaces, and private persons in addition to visa clearance. Parents, schools, organizations, and even potential partners can apply for drug integrity tests, Marwa explained.
“A non-judgmental pathway designed to support our national drive for demand reduction, fostering healthier communities, safer workplaces, and a more secure labor force,” he said, referring to the project.
He claims that the exam acts as an early warning system to spot drug experimenters and provide them with intervention and treatment before addiction develops.
In order to improve accessibility and convenience across the country, the system also allows private medical centers to collaborate with the NDLEA as approved drug testing facilities.
“The application process for drug integrity tests is made easy by this new digital platform. According to Marwa, it is data-driven, proactive, and caring.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its support for the nationwide War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative, pointing out that the new system is a cutting-edge strategy for addressing drug-related issues.
According to Marwa, this project demonstrates the NDLEA’s dedication to using technology to counter the growing complexity of drug usage and trafficking.
“We must prevail in the fight against drug abuse for the benefit of our children, our families, and our country’s future.”
Insisting that its success is a shared duty, he urged Nigerians and stakeholders to embrace the innovation.
