The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Aliyu Zubairu as head coach of the Nigeria men’s U-20 football team, Flying Eagles.

The appointment of Zubairu, who led El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to win the President Federation Cup against Abia Warriors FC in Lagos in June, takes immediate effect.

He also masterminded the Maiduguri club’s promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Zubairu’s immediate task is to put together and prepare a team for the WAFU B U-20 Championship.

Togo will host the competition between October and November, 2024.

The zone’s representative for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations will emerge at the competition.
