The deadly accident was reported to have happened on Tuesday morning in the Gurara Local Government Area, close to the Izom Bridge.
The trailer, which had left Lagos on its way to one of the northern states, was carrying products when it collapsed while trying to avoid potholes on a poor section of road near the bridge, according to witnesses who talked to Daily Trust.
According to Lambata resident Adamu Umar, the collision was caused in part by the road’s poor condition.
Less than a week had passed since a similar tragedy on the same route killed 22 lives and injured 20 more, prompting questions about how safe the Lambata–Suleja corridor is for drivers and large vehicles.

Aishatu Sa’adu, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Niger State Sector Commander, confirmed the collision in a statement to reporters.
She reported that the injured people were transported to a neighboring medical institution for treatment and that rescue operations were completed quickly.
The road’s declining condition has been cited by authorities as a recurrent threat and drivers have been cautioned to drive extremely carefully.
