Nigeria and the Republic of China have decided to improve their bilateral security, stability, and sovereignty ties.
This was the result of a strategic conference between Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yu Dunhai, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to review bilateral relations and enhance strategic collaboration between both nations.
Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Ministry’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday that the meeting’s main objectives were to advance ongoing collaborations and share perspectives on regional and worldwide trends.
It stated that the Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s support for Nigeria’s security, stability, and sovereignty while praising Nigeria’s leadership position in West Africa and agreeing with the Minister’s worries over the misrepresentation of regional conflicts.
The statement claims that both parties talked about broader areas of cooperation, such as industrialization, technology transfer, migration, capacity-building, and the extraction and processing of rare earth and essential minerals.
The parties also looked at China’s suggested “process solutions,” potential investments, and prospects in the manufacturing, energy, and economic transformation industries.
According to the release, Tuggar and Dunhai reaffirmed their commitment to improving Nigeria-China relations for mutual gain and agreed that continuous evaluations of bilateral agreements were essential to opening up new areas of cooperation.
