Nigeria cannot afford another civil war, according to former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), who has voiced concern about the ongoing issues plaguing different regions of the nation.

According to reports, millions of people died during the 1967–1970 Nigerian Civil War.

The retired general voiced concerns about the current state of insecurity and prayed that Nigeria would not see another civil unrest while speaking at the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival in Jos, Plateau.

“The several issues that Nigeria is currently experiencing are extremely upsetting. God is aware that we shouldn’t be experiencing this following the Civil War.

“I have expressed to God my desire that Nigeria won’t experience another crisis like the one we did.

Let’s give thanks to God that all of these calamities are finally coming to a conclusion. Ask God to change the hearts of everyone who is predisposed to cause trouble by praying to him, he added.
