In order to address Nigeria’s problems, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has urged top military officers and strategic stakeholders to convert strategy into practical measures.
Oluyede was said to have given the charge during the Nigerian Army Resource Center’s (NARC) Strategic Management and Policy Study Course 7/2024 graduation on Friday in Abuja.
Director-General Oluyede of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Center, represented by Maj.-Gen. Gbemiga Adesina, encouraged the 25 graduating officers to use their training for the advancement of the country.
According to the COAS, “this course is not just about theory; it is about using strategy, leadership, and innovation to make things happen, in your organizations and for the nation.”
“You need to start making changes. Your next goal is to advance Nigeria outside of this classroom. Use the knowledge you have acquired here to advance your organizations, yourself, and our country and humanity.
He said that the course’s integration of science, psychology, entrepreneurship, and policy equipped officers to lead in a rapidly evolving security and governance landscape.

NARC’s Director-General, retired Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab, characterized the initiative as a means of fostering mutual understanding, cooperation, and trust amongst civil, defense, and security agencies.
He claimed that the course’s consistent expansion—the current class is among the biggest—reflected the trust of organizations like the NYSC, Defense Intelligence, and the Department of State Services.
If we are unaware of one other’s perspectives, shortcomings, and capabilities, collaboration will not be successful. That’s what this course offers,” Wahab remarked.
He exhorted attendees to use their networks and abilities to overcome national obstacles.
“Knowledge is not monopolized by anyone.” What you perceive as white may be perceived as black by another; the goal is to share ideas and gain knowledge from one another,” Wahab continued.
Maj. Gen. Sunday Igbinomwanhia, the course president, thanked the Nigerian Army, NARC, and affiliated organizations for providing the chance to participate in the strategic training.
According to reports, the participants finished 11 months of rigorous coursework, receiving a fellowship from the Nigerian Army Resource Center and a master’s degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
Prior to the formal graduation ceremony, they were inducted on Thursday.
