According to reports, Ogun State Police Command officer Inspector Ajele Oloyede committed suicide.

It was said that the event happened while on special duty at Goodwill Ceramic Company in Igbesa, in the state’s Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

The unfortunate death of Inspector Oloyede, who was assigned to 78 PMF, Zamfara State, has been investigated, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, which verified the situation.

The incident happened at approximately 13:20 on March 14, 2025. Preliminary reports claim that Tolorunloju Stephen, an officer assigned to the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos and on special duty at the company, said he had just arrived from Ikeja when he went into the security office and discovered Inspector Oloyede with his head resting on a table. Following the quick exchange of greetings and a question about his health, Oloyede gave a positive response.

Stephen heard a gunshot a short while later, but he had already gone to the bathroom. He hurried back and discovered Inspector Oloyede in a bloody pool.

With the help of private security guards, the wounded officer was taken right away to Ota General Hospital, where the attending physician pronounced him dead.

She stated that the victim had been taken to the hospital for an autopsy and that the gun used in the event had been found.

A full-scale inquiry has been requested by state Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo to ascertain the circumstances behind the regrettable tragedy, including whether foul play or mental health problems were involved, according to the police spokeswoman.
