An infamous Boko Haram/ISWAP commander has been murdered by soldiers of the Joint Task Force (North East) “Operation HADIN KAI” (OPHK).

Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task, OPHK, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in Maiduguri.

On January 30, 2026, in the vicinity of Kimba, Damboa LGA, Borno State, the terrorist was murdered.

“Troops of OPHK recorded major operational successes across the North-East, neutralizing high-value terrorist targets, disrupting insurgent activities, and foiling criminal operations through sustained, intelligence-driven actions,” the statement said.

The death of JULAIBIB, a senior ISWAP commander operating within the Gujba axis of the Timbuktu Triangle, during a confrontation near Kimba, Damboa LGA of Borno State, on January 30, 2026, has been confirmed by intelligence in a major breakthrough.

According to additional intelligence, ISWAP elements in the region are in disarray as a result of the terrorist leader’s assassination; multiple fighters were reportedly neutralized during the operation. This amazing development reflects a huge blow to the command and control system of ISWAP in the region.

In a similar operation, OPHK troops neutralized three terrorists during a well-planned ambush between the Ngazalgana and Lamusheri communities in Borno State while collaborating with the Civilian Joint Task Force.

The action was carried out in response to reliable information about local rebel activity. Three rebels were neutralized and others fled with bullet wounds after troops strategically set up an ambush along the designated path and confronted the terrorists with powerful gunfire. Two AK-47 firearms were found at the location. The operation is a component of ongoing initiatives to restrict terrorists’ freedom of movement and weaken their ability to operate throughout the theatre.

“On January 29, 2026, forces stationed in an ambush position at Tsokorok, Gwoza LGA of Borno State, encountered BH/ISWAP insurgents, further solidifying their victories.

“The ambush team engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw. There was only one terrorist killed, and there were no military losses. From the scene, two motorcycles were found.
