As he joined Christians around the world, especially the Catholic faithful, in mourning the Vatican leader’s death, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), invited world leaders, particularly Nigerian political leaders, to follow in Pope Francis’s selfless service.
Political leaders, he said, should honor him not just with words but also by acting on principles of justice, equity, fairness, and government love for the governed.
He said that the Pope’s death, which occurred during the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, is a holy return to his Creator because he was a humble servant of God.
The fact that Pope Francis passed away just hours after giving a speech at a Vatican Easter Sunday service should serve as a reminder to everyone that death can strike at any time, according to Ajadi.
As a result, he called on world leaders to follow the late Pope’s example of showing compassion to the forgotten, the refugees, the migrants, and the marginalized.
“I was saddened to hear of His Holiness Pope Francis’s passing Monday morning,” he said.
I expressed my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Christians and the Catholic Church.

He was, in fact, the Pope of the forgotten, the oppressed, and the impoverished. He was a force for peace who genuinely lived out Christ’s teachings of love for both God and people.
He was a staunch supporter of the developing world, speaking out against economic injustice and praying for peace and stability in unstable areas.
In the statement he personally signed on Monday to lament Pope Francis’s death, Ajadi said, “I urged World leaders and especially Nigeria political leaders to honor him not with words alone but with action: by lifting those who are down, healing our communities, and defending the dignity of every person.”
