Babangida Hussaini, the senator for Jigawa State North West, has denied rumors that he is getting ready to run for the state’s governorship in the general election in 2027.

The legislator claimed that the reports were intended to incite needless political strife within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and called them baseless, untrue, and purposefully misleading.

This was stated in a statement that the senator personally signed and provided to reporters on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.

Adamu warned against what he called an increasing trend of false political narratives being disseminated on radio channels, claiming the accusations were cunning and intended to cause division within the ruling party.

“These claims are entirely false and are clearly intended to create unnecessary tension, division, and mischief within our great party, the APC,” he declared.

The senator emphasized that the public may be misled and party unity could be weakened by such falsehoods.

The senator also emphasized that he and Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi are still devoted APC members who cooperate in harmony and respect for the state’s advancement.

He insisted that both he and the governor were committed to providing the people of Jigawa with the benefits of democracy and pointed out that there was no rivalry or covert political goal between them.

Adamu’s response came after someone named Magaji Dogo said on a radio program that the senator was considering running for governor in the upcoming election cycle.

The statement also claimed that the person appeared in a campaign-style T-shirt and cap with Governor Namadi’s and Senator Adamu’s photos on them, in what the legislator described as an intentional attempt to mislead that the claim came from him.

The senator reiterated his steadfast support for both the Jigawa State Government led by Governor Namadi and the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He stated that his present priorities were still to support the APC’s leadership and make a significant contribution to Jigawa State’s ongoing socioeconomic development.

Adamu urged the APC’s leadership to take the necessary steps to stop the propagation of false narratives that could jeopardize party unity and discipline.

In order to strengthen the APC and further the development of Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole, he emphasized the need for collective responsibility and asked party members and the general public to ignore the rumors.
