In Akwa Ibom State on Friday, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Nigerian Senate, said that the state would not have any political parties for the general election in 2027.
According to Akpabio, the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been badly wounded and is no longer able to protect the people.
At the Ikot Ekpene township stadium, Akpabio, the senatorial representative for the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, made these remarks at his midterm empowerment briefing.
The Senate President then went on to launch a number of significant projects in his district after the empowerment ceremony, announcing that roughly 68 projects will be put into service between Friday, May 16, and Thursday, May 17, 2025.
According to Akpabio, “As I speak with you, Akwa Ibom State will not have a political party in 2027.” The Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District has seen the collapse of all political parties in support of Senator Godswill Akpabio. All major parties have committed to supporting Governor Umo Eno in the 2027 election. Akwa Ibom has suggested that Senator Akpabio be elected to the Senate, Eno be elected governor of Akwa Ibom State, and President Bola Tinubu be elected.
“There is no longer any protection from the umbrella, and the People’s Democratic Party is in ruins.”

While some people may publicly declare their believe in God but not truly live it out, the Senate President described the present governor, Umo Eno, as a man of peace who truly has faith in his heart.
“Umo Eno is a peaceful individual. A man of God is Umo Eno. Those who made verbal declarations of faith are not what I mean. Those who practice God in their hearts are what I mean. We’ve all been united by Umo Eno,” Akpabio remarked.
The president of the Senate praised his wife, Unoma Akpabio, saying she has been empowering the people.
