According to Mark Jacob, a former PDP national legal adviser, the actions of Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Sim Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, following their meeting with President Bola Tinubu may indicate reconciliation, but it is anti-democratic to suspend elected officials.
According to reports, Tinubu met with suspended Rivers Assembly members, Fubara, and Wike at the Presidential Villa in Abuja late on Thursday.
The meeting was held three months after a contentious political crisis in the oil-producing state led Tinubu to suspend Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers Assembly.
Wike, Fubara, and the suspended legislators were all grinning broadly after the meeting.
Speaking to reporters, Wike declared that they had settled their issues and decided to “cooperate with the governor, and the governor has also agreed to cooperate with all of us.”
We belong to the same political family,” he continued. “Yes, all people have disagreements, but you also have time to resolve them, and that has been ultimately done today. The purpose of our visit is to inform Mr. President of our agreement.
The reconciliation does not alter the reality that an aberration occurred in Rivers State, the former PDP legal adviser said in an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday.

“I will not be surprised if Fubara joins the ruling party,” Jacob added, citing recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It’s all about me, therefore I won’t be surprised if Siminalayi accepts if they offer him a carrot and tell him to come to the APC so he can return his place, he stated. What do I stand to gain?
“It is an aberration and something that should never have happened in the first place, and the fact that they are smiling and shaking hands does not change the reality that River State is subject to an illegality.
I think it’s still drama, and we’ll see what happens in the coming days, but it’s awful that it happened at all.
“A president who was elected democratically should never be able to subvert democracy. Specifically, it shouldn’t occur in Nigeria.
