Veteran Nollywood actor Ganiu Nafiu, also known by his stage as Alapini, has apologized for the 2023 presidential campaign endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.
In an interview with “Behind the Fame – African A-List TV” on YouTube, Alapini reportedly bemoaned the disregard and lack of acknowledgment that followed Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election….
Alapini stressed that he and many other veterans spent two months advocating for Tinubu in the hopes that their steadfastness and prominence would be valued following the victory, but that expectation has since been replaced by disappointment.
Because Tinubu is someone we have admired for a long time and has been supportive of performers, he added, “We were campaigning with joy, thinking our messiah has arrived.” For two months, we came out to support him because of this. We campaigned for him for two months.
Speaking further, Alapini claimed that neither the All Progressives Congress nor Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, recognized the contributions of senior actors who were visibly present at campaign events.
He has not been exempt from the curses placed upon him, the actor added, citing his colleague Olaiya Igwe, who famously stripped naked on a beach to pray for Tinubu’s triumph.
Saying that Yoruba villages have been neglected, Alapini chastised Seyi for concentrating his charitable endeavors in Northern Nigeria.

“Could Seyi say that he didn’t see us old people when we were out there campaigning?” he continued.
Was it Seyi’s blindness that prevented him from recognizing us, the senior actors? We numbered in the hundreds. All of us, young and old, were out and about.
“We even conducted campaigns in places where some people were unable to.
“They gave us nothing at all. While we were campaigning, we were being cursed in comment sections.
Olaiya Igwe, a friend of mine, went naked on the beach due to Tinubu.
Until now, he has not been free from the curses that were set upon him.
