NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to safeguarding the nation’s schoolchildren.
The CSC Children are Nigeria’s greatest asset, according to Babawale Afolabi, Public Relations Officer, NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, who said in a statement that the Corps was tasked with protecting key national assets and infrastructure (CNAI).
The directive was given by NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi in a keynote speech at a one-day capacity building program for State Coordinators and Desk Officers from the North Central geopolitical zone, which was hosted at the Corps’ national headquarters and organized by the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC).
For the benefit of more stakeholders in their respective domains, Audi instructed state commandants to support the Safe Schools Project by helping to cascade the capacity development training programs.
As the cornerstone of any organization, he reiterated his administration’s dedication to the goal of safer schools for kids, teachers, and host communities through training and retraining.
According to the Corps’ helmsman, DCG Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, Deputy Commandant General Technical Services, the training’s theme is “Ensuring safer schools for all.” Its goal is to increase the ability of NSSRCC staff at all levels in order to meet the government’s Safe Schools Declaration target.
He insisted that the Corps has been dedicated to making learning settings safer for kids, teachers, and host communities ever since it completed a vulnerability evaluation of schools in 2021.
As the training was announced, the head of NSCDC encouraged participants to network and learn from professionals to improve service delivery. He also praised the efforts of other stakeholders, including the ministries of education, finance, and interior, as well as civil society organizations like Save the Children International, for their steadfast dedication to the center’s mission.

In a welcome speech earlier, Commander NSSRCC ACC Rabiu Ibn Muhammad stated that the center sees opportunities for cooperation, innovation, and growth in the face of emerging insecurity trends, such as drug abuse, cultism, and cyber threats, among others. As a result, it is necessary to outfit its staff with the newest security-related innovations and technologies.
In order to give participants fresh perspectives and help them better address the numerous issues pertaining to school safety throughout the federation, specialists in a variety of fields have been carefully chosen, according to Muhammad.
Prior to the first half of the year, he emphasized, more training stages will be conducted in the other geopolitical zones.
