Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that corps members who have just finished their service will be compensated with the already agreed ₦77,000 stipend.
Nafiu gave assurances that the payment process had already started while speaking in Abuja on Thursday at the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilization Workshop for heads of corps-producing institutions and other stakeholders.
“The administration is aware of its commitment and will deal with the arrears within the allocated budget. We will pay them as soon as the money is made available to us,” Nafiu said.
He also promised that the funds would not be withheld from corps members who have already fainted.
“The benefits will extend to individuals who have finished their duty. We have their bank information and will credit them as soon as we obtain the required money. The government is accountable and attentive to the demands of Nigerians, so they shouldn’t be concerned,” he continued.

Mohammed Abubakar, the Director of Corps Mobilization, voiced worry about certain colleges’ fraudulent enrollment of ineligible graduates.
He said, “We still face serious issues, particularly the fraudulent uploading of unqualified graduates, which must be tackled, despite remarkable progress in recent years.”
Ayodele Olawande, the minister of youth development, also underlined the necessity of reforming the NYSC in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NYSC needs to change along with Nigeria. We need to close the gaps and make sure the program gets graduates ready for the workforce,” he stated.
