In response to the passing of their respected monarch, HRM Ovie Macaulay Popo Ovbagbedia, JP, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, the Ohworode of Olomu, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed his deepest sorrow to the Olomu Kingdom and the larger Urhobo nation.
At a ceremony held on Saturday at the royal palace in the Ovwor-Olomu village, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, SAN, the Otota (traditional prime minister) of Olomu, announced the monarch’s death.
His Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, issued a statement in Asaba on Sunday, in which Oborevwori hailed the late monarch as a legacy-leaving man of wisdom, peace, and cultural pride.
The governor offered his condolences to the Olomu Traditional Council, the royal family, and every citizen of the kingdom, urging them to take solace in the notable accomplishments and nonviolent governance of the late monarch, who succeeded to the throne on May 20, 2023.

Although the Ohworode’s rule was brief, Oborevwori recognized that it was marked by dignity, humility, and a strong commitment to the growth and unification of his people.
He prayed for the monarch’s soul to rest in peace and for the kingdom to be able to bear this terrible loss.
