According to community sources who talked with Vanguard, the suspect allegedly used a machete to attack Onyemaechi, his mother, before escaping into a neighboring woodland.
After the incident, young people from the neighborhood apparently organized, followed him to his forest hideout, and captured him.
After being paraded throughout the neighborhood, he was exiled and given a warning not to come back.
The suspect allegedly admitted to carrying out the deed in a widely shared video taken during the procession, citing complaints over his mother’s failure to comply with specific demands.
He claimed, “I killed my mother because she refused to give me a bath and to rent a shop for my brother, who was learning barbing and needed money to get started.”
More than 200 young people were mobilized to search the jungle and capture the culprit, according to Maduabuchi Nweke, the local councillor, who confirmed the occurrence.
