In advance of the 2027 general elections, Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using intimidation techniques to weaken opposition parties.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and former National Officer of the Labour Party reportedly made the accusation on Monday, October 27, 2025, on Arise Television’s Morning Show, claiming that the APC was using political thugs and security forces to obstruct opposition activities nationwide.
“ADC is burning.” Okonkwo stated, “The only thing is that we have an APC that is using every technique to intimidate and scatter the opposition’s plans.”
The former spokesman for the Labour Party claimed that thugs operating under the protection or direction of security personnel had disrupted ADC meetings in Kaduna, Lagos, and Ekiti States.
He explained that the instances were part of a larger plan by the ruling party to silence and undermine opposition voices in preparation for the upcoming general election.
Okonkwo stated, “Our meetings across states have been repeatedly attacked.”
“It is regrettable that the opposition is being frustrated by security agencies, which ought to protect all political actors equally.”
Okonkwo criticized what he saw as the APC’s exploitation of state institutions, claiming that such actions go against the spirit of the Electoral Act, which ensures that all parties have equal protection and freedom of political association.
“The APC is frustrating others by utilizing every branch of government. The idea that all political parties should have equal protection goes against the terms of the Electoral Act, he claimed.
Okonkwo emphasized that the ruling party’s ongoing use of intimidation and repression is a sign of desperation and fear of losing power in 2027.
Okonkwo insisted that the APC is already disintegrating internally and voiced optimism that the ADC would win the upcoming general elections despite the reported attacks.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s next government will be formed by ADC. He said, “We are planning, and we will defeat this APC.”
“All of these endorsements are just a collection of sycophants, and they are already imploding.”
Okonkwo exhorted Nigerians to maintain their fortitude and to back political parties dedicated to fairness, openness, and genuine democratic progress.
