Emma Ogidi, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) South South Caretaker Committee, has stated that the party is still active in Delta State.
It was reported that Ogidi stated that the defection of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had not diminished the party’s numbers or prospects.
In an interview with Vanguard, Ogidi noted that Delta State’s entire development was provided by the PDP.

The PDP is still active in Delta State; there is no denying that our membership has declined, but the party is still there.

When word spread that I had been assigned, I got a lot of calls from people who said they were staying put. The PDP still has this zeal.

“Do you know why?” The PDP has been successful because it is responsible for the development that has occurred in Delta State throughout the years. People wonder what is going on, but the truth is that everyone has a different background, therefore those who joined the APC had their own motivations. But there are reasons why some of us stayed behind.

“The PDP’s success in Delta State is one explanation. PDP brought about all of the current developments in Delta State. Since the PDP created the majority of the hundrednaires, thousands of people, and millions you see today, some of us are still dedicated to giving back to Delta State.

“PDP should be appreciative of Deltans for their support.” I fervently believe this, and I want Deltans to recognize that the PDP in Delta State still has hope,” he stated.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has nothing to give, the former commissioner who represented Delta State on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) added.

He emphasized that Governors Oborevwori and Okowa might rejoin the PDP, much like former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan did.

Delta State is a PDP state. I am aware of what former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan said after returning from his visit to the APC. There was nothing there, he claimed to have seen. The reality is that now is not the time to start answering every question. It’s a time to reflect.

“Those of us who are still in the PDP are assessing the situation. “This is a chapter, of course, and we will report to our national headquarters in Abuja,” he continued.
