The former terminal of Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, which is presently undergoing multibillion-naira renovations, has apparently been completely destroyed by a fire outbreak.
Information on the origin and scope of the fire was still hazy at the time this report was filed.
The impacted terminal is a component of continuous improvements to the airport’s infrastructure.
Officials had not yet released a formal statement regarding the incident, however it was claimed that emergency services had arrived at the area.
Nearly two years have passed since a fire incident was reported at the airport’s international wing.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria announced on September 6, 2023, that a smoke incident occurred at Terminal 1 of the airport due to a suspected electrical spark in the baggage hall ceiling.
The authorities said that a burning lithium-ion battery installation in the basement was the source of the smoke.
